Albert Opbroek - He was responsible for setting up St Gregory’s St Vincent de Paul Society.
He was born in Stafford in 1838, the 23yr old was a good organist and Choir master. He raised money for the new church. He served on first School Board 1870-1873.
He then went on to become Rector of the new Seminary at Olton, Solihull; 1879 - Auxiliary Bishop 1889 - Bishop of Birmingham 1911 - First Archbishop of Birmingham He had a great affection for Fr Massam and was a regular visitor to Longton. John Stringfellow - He was appointed to Longton aged 31 and came from Caverswall.
